EY Workshop: SR&ED and other Financial Fundamentals + Q&A

One of NEXT Canada’s longtime partners EY is hosting a workshop for the current cohort and have invited our alumni to attend.

We’ll focus on the various ways you can structure your business operations, explain the pros and cons of each structure, and talk about fundamentals of tax compliance and planning.  We will also de-mystify how business taxes work and help you avoid common tax pitfalls. You will get a good introduction of things to look out for when it comes to taxes at each stage of your business trajectory.

We will also review the SR&ED program and how start-ups can recover upwards of 50% of R&D expenses, regardless of taxable positions. We will help you identify what qualifies under the SR&ED program, and how you can benefit from this program that gives out over $4 billion every year to Canadian companies. As entrepreneurs, we know you value investment. This presentation will review how SR&ED is both an operating capital opportunity and a way to validate your company, product and/or process to investors. In addition, we will briefly discuss what other government grants and incentives are available for start-ups.
